[VAC] Re: WBCCI MEMBERSHIP

I couldn't agree more, Bill. Roy, Bob and you (and Kathy in a private post
to me) have identified the problem and suggested the fix. Being a long
term student of organizations professionally, I believe you are correct
that the situation will continue to worsen before it gets better. The down
side of that is with a then member base of maybe 5,000, the resource base
will be substantially reduced with which to make changes to revitalize the
club. I would think that at some point the Airstream Company might begin
to take an interest in these developments since a highly visible, viable
Airstream owners group can do a lot to promote the product and keep the
mystique alive. In years past, Airstream provided a lot of administrative
support and continuity to WBCCI. It will be in their self interest
financially to do so again.

And if I might speculate on the new member hoop jumping, some of this I
believe is a carry over from earlier times when WBCCI units were
essentially social organizations who wanted to be sure any new members
they might associate with were of the correct financial, social and
cultural background. Maybe it still goes on. I'm glad I'm joining WDCU
#107 which will be a pioneer and prototype of what WBCCI will become.
