[VAC] Re: New v. Vintage
Jerry,
I do not know if the quality is the same with the vintage Airstreams vs new
Airstreams. Suffice it to say that the new ones are MUCH more complicated.
There is a lot more that can break or wear out, BUT everything is new, not
25+ years old, and usually more convenient. That said, I have a 1960
Overlander that has passed through my family. It has been well maintained
and I don't ever see me parting with it. I used it for 2 1/2 months this
summer traveling about 8000 miles. Nothing of consequence needed repaired in
that time, but this spring I did spend about $1500 on a new furnace and hot
water heater! I am of the opinion that size of the trailer has little to do
with how much it costs to maintain it. The major costs are appliances.
