Re: [VAC] 1951

Toby, I remember those 1951 Plymouths, since I was a Ford man and a "Hot
Rodder", Plymouths were so ugly, they didn't get a second look. Not
trying to offend, just being "truthful". Early fifties Airstreams were,
the Cruisette, in 1951 and 1952, very light, and the smallest ever made
by A/s. They had a 12 ft body and 3 ft A-frame to make a 15 footer, and
a dry weight of 1420 lbs. I know of only 3 or 4 in existance. One was
recently sold at Iowa Boys, in North Hollywood, CA. Some people may
think they have a Cruisette, but they are kinda rare. A 16 ft Wee Wind
was made in 1949. A 17ft Clipper was made in 49, and 1950. There are a
few of those around. A 17ft Clipper was made in 1953, but I have not
seen one. An 18 ft Globe Trotter was introduced, or re-introduced in
1954 at 2040 lbs dry weight. Most of these, had no tanks or toilet, and
were very light.
Good Luck finding one. If you do find one, I would still recommend
putting a larger engine in that old Plymouth. When you get out on
todays hiways, many are marked 70MPH max, and 40MPH min.
