Gerald,
 It's pretty common to fuse the negative battery lead in an RV
application. The fuse should be as close to the battery as possible and
large enough to carry any anticipated load; 50 amps should be large
enough unless you have a sizable inverter. If you do have such a device,
it might be well to connect and fuse it seperately, as they draw
hellacious amounts of current.
