Re: [VAC] greetings/fulltiming
Thank you Sunshine, could not have said it better myself.
To show there is a variety of personalities on this list,
witness this. (I am sure most of you would never have
considered doing as we did and that's just grand...we are
NOT doomsayers,survivalists,militia or anything
else...we're just trying to find a way to wrest our life
back from the 21st century and we feel as though we were
born about 175 years after we should have been. If you
folks wanted to see a comedy, you should have seen the
two of us new years eve weekend...loaded for bear,
everything we needed for the post Y2K stress busting
meltdown. We had all the essentials loaded into a TINY
little 15 foot Scotty travel trailer and the covered back
of a pickup truck. We were praying to the heavens and the
four corners of the globe for Y2K to strike US personally
so we could go ahead a take that (forced) retirement.
Alas, it was not to be. We were then relegated to
spending the (4 day)weekend living like we wish we could
live everyday. If we can just hold on another 5 years we
can fulltime in a boondocked Overlander and very
seriously boondock in a vintage Landcruiser/Globetrotter
combination. I think our first major "try to get lost"
trip will be into the "wilds" of Utah where it can get
pretty outback indeed ( for those of you that haven't
been to the "lost" parts of Utah, take it from
me...please; if you see a fuel stop, TAKE IT! ask me how
I know this).

Oh, and by the way: I am a died in the wool packrat, and
folks, let me tell you...getting rid of or not having
readily available access to my stuff for my
electrical/electronic projects/gadgets/supplies and my
books was tough at first...but I learned to...well
nevermind, I STILL MISS IT. OH well, for life aboard the
Airstream with my likeminded soulmate it's ALL worth it.
