Re: [VAC] found my baby 1949

Tuna,
Are you going to buy this "49"?? 1949 and 1950 was a transition year,
from the old style body, with the oval front and rear windows and the
pipe frame. Lots of different model names depending on layout and
furnishings. There was a Trail Wind, a Sea Breeze, a Clipper, a Zephyr,
a Whirlwind, and many others. The down side on the pipe frame, is that
it was not very strong. The one you looked at is broken, the frame
should NOT rotate on any axis. Many of the pipe frames would break up
near the body in front. There are about 6 forties pipe frame coaches
that show up at our International Rally. If you intend to add a toilet
and shower, and water and tanks, and a heavy gas/elec refrigerator, you
will need to do substantial beefing up of that pipe frame. Bud Cooper
did a shell off restoration of his 48 Liner, and built a complete new
ladder type frame, with new running gear, and brakes. It is a beautiful
job, and handles very well at 70MPH. His wife Bettye insisted upon a
new bathroom, kitchen, and other appliances that would modernize the
coach. That is what you have to look forward to, ....Tuna, so, don't
pay too much. All you are getting really, is just a shell, because the
frame, is not much more than a "Fish Skeleton".

Good Luck,
Bill Scott
