I had a leak very similar to yours and it turned out to be a couple of
things.
1. The shroud that covers the A/C unit should not be caulked around the
bottom (it traps the water in)
2. the trapped water has plenty of time to leak through the screw holes that
hold the shroud on.

I uncaulked the shroud and took each screw out and covered the holes in the
skin with vulkem before putting the screws back in.

It hasn't leaked since and we have had some real heavy rains....

it's worth a try anyhow..
