Nick,

What size copper tubing do you have for a main line? I will bet that its
5/8" O.D.
Go back to Home Depot and get a 5/8" to 5/8" (or what ever size the main is)
flare nut union with a piece of flexible copper tubing and extend the gas
main to a point between the "A" frame that is protected and you can still
get to. Then get a 5/8" flare nut and install it ath the end of the main.
From there you will need a 5/8" Flare reducer to a  3/8" Male Pipe Thread.
This should all be in the gas fitters pipe section of HD. From there you
should be able to get a 3/8" gas service hose in various lengths from 12 to
30 inches. to run to up to your regulator.
