I had the same problem with mine. I bought compression fittings and they
wouldn't fit over the pipe. A friend of mine informed me that copper tubing
will expand a considerable amount when the water in the pipe has been
frozen. I ended up attaching rubber hose with hose clamps to this "chubby"
copper in one area of my plumbing.
