Susie, The polarity light on my '60 operated as expected until '98. Then it
came on even though the polarity was correct (verified by an electrician).
The cause was a deteriorated power chord. He also pointed out that the chord
that I had been using all these years had no ground wire! Replaced the chord
and no more problems.
