Re: [VAC] Interpreting Serial Numbers

Here's a Meassge for any who can tell me anything about my Airsteam from
the Serial No.

It's a 1966 Safari Landyacht serial Number J0226547, with two beds as
usual, but the refer is located on the Driver's side (port side), and
the Galley on the Passenger's side, Starboard. (it's a yacht .. right?)

The interior is white vinyl which has been painted with latex flat white
(hideous) and I am about to hit it with ammonia to pull off the latex
paint. The Front End cap seems to be molded fiberglass which has also
been painted flat white ( ugh!). I have not determined if there is any
Zolatone or what it might have been, but I also haven't looked that hard
yet. Can you tell me about the interior or other features from the
serial Number?

Also the Windows are different fromn other Airstreams but are as
pictured in the Owner's manual. Temperd sheet glass hinged from the top
with no frame around the glazing. Seems precarious, but intacted and not
leaking. Are there any horror stories associated with this window
system?

While I have Owner's manuals, I have no Service Manuals.

Thanks in Advance

Alex
