Re: [VAC] Replacement for Taillights

It would be practical to make an RTV mold of a classic lens, then cast
lenses in tinted polyester in the mold. Such a technique is often used
for making model railroad parts and prototype plastic parts of all
kinds. I did a quick Alta Vista search to try to find one source that
I've read about a lot and found a lot of information at:
http://www.eclipse.net/~r1/resource_list.htm with a bibliography of
articles about the topic, and at least a couple sources of material
supply at: http://www.wyominggold.com/ and
http://www.bjbenterprises.com/new/index.html and
http://www.polychm.com/homepg1.htm and http://www.castcraft.com/ and
http://bare-metal.com/Polytek11.html from the first page of results.

This is kitchen table top scale technology, not rocket science.

As for lens sources, I'd try several parts stores as well as farm
implement stores and farm supply stores. So far I don't need any tail
light lenses, though I noticed one of the oval clearance light lenses
didn't match the rest.
