Re: [VAC] Awning
Greetings Peter!
While my Airstream is a larger Overlander, I can understand your concern
about choosing an awning. If you are thinking of a "automatic roll-up
style" awning, you'll find that getting the awning arms that stow against
the trailer side to be difficult due to the coach's curvature. A & E, for
instance, advised me to be very cautious with the arms on my awning as they
cannot be replaced today at any cost. Zip Dee has a good reputation with
most Airstreamers and a long history with the make, and may be one of the
few with the interest in working with the owner of a Vintage Airstream.
If you are concerned about the appearance, you can see a number of the
different possibilities by attending a rally. Not only can you see the
various awning types and styles at a rally, you have the opportunity to
speak with the owners who can fill you in on operation and care
considerations as well.
Good luck with your search.
