    Your 397 serial number falls within the known range of "Bubble" model 
serial numbers for 1955 to 1957 as compiled by Bill Scott and others, so you 
have a 1956 Bubble model Airstream travel trailer.  As others have suggested, 
the 1600 RX may be a dealer designation for inventory control or another 
purpose, but is not an Airstream designation.   

     Does the rear top center panel on your trailer begin narrow at the top 
and get wider as it runs down to the window, matching the width of the top of 
the rear window where they meet?  A few Bubbles and some other larger trailer 
from about 1954-56 have this rear panel design, informally called a 
"Dutchman's Cap."  Sounds like a very nice trailer you have found.
