If the trailer is stored in a dry climate, you also may want to consider 
purchasing a small 
package of "packing" at Ace hardware or somewhere.  Unscrew the top of the 
valve and cut a small piece of this string like substance that will wrap around 
its base and then replace the valve.  This works great for pennies.  You can 
also replace the screw and seal inside while you are at it if it is dried out 
and the screw has become rusty.
