Re: [VAL] Barg 99 LED conversion

Scott,
No. The little socket is 1-1/2" long WITH the wires folder over the back. I
don't know enough Airstreams but I think your wall ribs are 2" with skin
overlay. A 5/8" drill bit will drill out the trailer and the base. Be very
careful when drilling skin as the aluminum will grab the bit, make ugly
hole, and if loss of control, go thru inside wall. Before bit goes thru,
reverse bit to finish the hole. Trim and deburr hole with utility knife. If
you take off your lens, you can easily verify these dimensions with a ruler.

Use only aluminum rivets or ss #8 screws to affix to trailer. SS screws are
soft so don't ruin the Phillips head. Do put putty tape behind the base and
help that press down to uniformly squeeze. Don't just have the fasteners
cause the setting of the base in the putty. Help it by slowly and patiently
pushing. If you are going to rivet, first get fully pressed tight with the
ss screws, then put rivets in one at a time.

When pushing the base into the putty tape into the trailer, go little at a
time and slowly. Don't push so hard as to bend in the skin of the trailer.
Just patient, slow, working the putty tape.

Thank you for trying to help me with trucking info.

I have no problems drilling through the outer skin since it will not show.
My question is will I also have to drill through the inner skin to get
enough depth?
