Re: [VAL] Where to advertise my 1948 trailer?

That was a trip down memory lane, looking at that trailer. When I was first
married, I had a 48 Liberty trailer. The outside skin was masonite, but the
interior was very close to the Earl Smith trailer, wonderful cabinetry and a
good layout. It was heavy to haul, and I learned a lot, trying to pull it
with an underpowered Dodge pickup. Going up a steep hill, the front wheels
of the truck did not make good contact with the road. We solved that
problem by bob tailing the truck to move the hitch closer to the rear axle
of the truck. The gear shift tended to jump out of gear going up hill, so
one had to hold it in place to keep from losing power suddenly on a long
hill. At one point I got it stuck under a gas station canopy, very
embarrassing moment. I experienced trailer brake failure in WV, causing me
to run a red light at the bottom of a steep hill, gives me the shivers just
thinking about it. It is a wonder that I survived that trip. My soldier
husband was at Ft. Campbell KY and I was joining him, so he was not along to
help. I have always wondered if he was trying to get rid of me? LOL!
