I second Scott's suggestion about the 12 V compact fluorescents. We use
the "60 watt equivalent" size in the one 12 V fixture in the Pacer (also
use CFs in the two 120 V fixtures). I think it draws 1.1 amps at 12 V
or something like that.
The 12 V compact fluorescents are not real common but you can get them
from some boating supply stores and places that sell solar power
equipment for people living off the power grid. Here are a couple,
