Dr. G,
I'm a huge LED lighting enthusiast. From the beginning I have followed this
innovative kind of lighting. I have converted beautiful vintage grab handles
and other fine vintage fixtures with LED lights. I like vintage looks, but
the tremendous advantages of little or no heat, little and slight power
consumption, and incredible service life of LED are very significant.
The once-prohibitive pricing is coming down and making conversions cost
comparitive now. Availability of better component choices are making odd
applications now doable.
There are limitations that seem ever so slow in coming product solutions.
The two most prominent are mirror reflection, and brightness such as to
replace head lights.
My main interest is power consumption. The reduction in power needed for
applications such as trailer towing, and trailer interior lighting is
incredible. Batteries last longer, generators have so much less work and
longer life, and the reduction in heat is so significant. Lenses last longer
without the heat, and the total end of service problems is a relief.
My constant need to change the bulb on my Rollback truck license plate
lights ended with the conversion to the vibration indifferent LED. Prior to
that I was putting in as many as two bulbs daily from this mounting on the
hydraulic control box cover that even rubber cushions did not cure.
Thank you for seeing this. I will check and watch. Hopefully others will
join and expand this needed product line market.
