JIm,

The wires you are dealing with are interchangeable.

One wire is connected to the common +12V along with each of the other 
wheel brakes, fed forward and connected to the cold side of the brake 
away switch and then to the trailer plug.

The other wire is connected to common ground along with each of the 
other wheel brakes, fed forward and grounded to the frame and to the 
trailer plug ground.

The brake away switch hot side is normally hooked to the 121V charge 
line going from the trailer plug directly to the coach batteries.

Often you will see common connections made simply with a wire nut. For 
longer, trouble free service I recommend you solder the connections.
