I had a Dakota with the 4.7 and tow package (and full time 4wd). I towed my
29' foot ambassador with it and it did well. I suspect the 2wd will do fine
in most situations. My only concern would be the transmission cooler--it
will overheat if you don't have the tow package with larger cooler. Easy
enough to add a tranny cooler if you need to. The 4.7 is the best engine
Dodge makes, in my opinion. My hemi is strong but guzzles gas, the 4.7 got
reasonable mileage towing.
