Re: [VAL] Question

I say it's fine for highway and most campgrounds. However, my problems
that require 4X4 are never from snow or mud, but trying to negotiate
short, steep gravel driveways. Sometimes you just can't make it on a
perfectly smooth dirt road if you get stopped and the grade is steep.
The switchbacks just south of Grand Gulch in Utah are an example. It
would be a case of sheer terror if you got stopped and couldn't get
going forward, just delaying the backward plunge.... I wouldn't think
of this with my 18' Caravel, but with my 27' Overlander I've had to
shift my F-250 diesel into 4-HI in just such a place. And the diesel
weighs 2,000 lbs more than the usual pickup! Hmmm, maybe I needed 4X4 to
get the diesel up the hilll.
