Re: [VAL] TV antenna hook up

Greetings Barb!

>I have a screw up/swivel around tv antenae on the roof of
my Excella. The PO installed a booster on the wall and
that helps but does anyone have a suggestion as to what
might reach out there a little better when we're in
out-lying areas?>>

I was really shocked by the improvement in reception
provided when my dealer installed new "BatWing" antennas on
both my '64 Overlander and '78 Minuet. In both cases, new
coax was run from the roof-mounted antenna to the new outlet
with built-in booster. The reception, even in fringe areas
has been absolutely fantastic.

>I see people with the little satelite dishes they set on
the ground and point up to the air waves, I'm guessing that
is probably expensive. I have Cox Cable at home, I've
been thinking about calling them to see if there is a piggy
back program or something. Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks, Barb

The portable satellite dishes aren't particularly expensive
if you happen to have satellite service for your permanent
residence. I have had DirecTV for more than ten years, and
have one of the portable dishes that I can carry in my coach
-- I just disconnect one of my receivers at home and carry
it with me. The biggest problem with the portable systems
is in setting them up once in the campsite -- I don't like
the struggle with a compass and aiming so usually only use
the satellite system if I will be parked for more than three
nights.

Good luck with your investigation!
