[VAL] Original vs not

Hello everyone,
I want to recover my gaucho and put flooring down instead of the carpet that
is in it.
Everyone says no don't touch it because it is all original. Will this hurt the
value in any
way? The Gaucho I can see being original but the carpet???????????It is a
burnt orange and I would love to lighten it up inside.
