Re: [VAL] Re:Bio-diesel

There is another way to run a more pure bio-fuel and that is to have an
extra tank for it. Originally John Diesel who invent/designed the diesel
engine ran the first one on peanut oil. What some people are doing now and
it works rather well is to install an auxiliary tank which is modified with
a coil going thru it that has water from the radiator circulating thru it to
heat used (cleaned) vegetable oil. The reason for two tanks is so the engine
can be started/ran on one until the engine heats up and the bio-fuel in the
other/aux tank can be heated until it's thin enough to pump and supply the
engine, once it's thin/liquefied enough you just switch tanks and run on
bio-fuel. Of course this requires a little more work/modification than
simply pulling up to a pump with bio-fuel that's a high percentage of
regular diesel with a low percentage of bio-fuel. You can also buy your
unused, clean Crisco oil or cheaper yet get used cooking oil from local fast
food joints. The later will require that you heat and strain the used oil to
remove particles before use. It will also solidify when store but the use of
heat tape wrapped around a drum works pretty well to keep it liquid enough
to pump into the aux tank.
