Re: [VAL] FM radio station in Airstream at Astrodome
Note:
The FCC granted KAMP a new temporary license for a 6-watt transmitter
located right outside the Dome.
This is a special temporary license granted by the FCC to this station.
This is done under special emergency circumstances at times to allow for
information dissemination during emergencies. It is a real radio
station, with real call letters, and a real FCC license with all of it's
requirements, i.e. public service announcements, record keeping
requirements, a percentage of it's broadcast time devoted to the public
good, etc.
It is *most* unlikely that a WBCCI International would be considered a
national disaster, so any special authorization for a broadcasting
license would (as per past FCC precedent) most likely be denied.
Who knows, if you can convince George W. that the next International is
going to be a disaster of biblical proportions, you may get a license too.
Realistically, not gonna happen. But it is a nice thought.
