Although there are plenty of nervous nellies on this list that will 
disagree with me -- speaking from experience -- I wouldn't hesitate to 
use it. I have used propane that was over 30 years old, and it worked 
fine. The old regulator, however, is a different issue. The easiest way 
to check it out is to hook up a different tank of propane and see how 
things work. If they are still as they were, the regulator would likely 
be the next thing to replace.
