[VAL] Re: looking for a short
I have been looking for a short in my 69 Caravel's clearance
lights. Wish to see if anyone could confirm. I have clearance
lights in the front (green wire) after I cut the wire that goes back
to the rear of the camper. Before cutting the line I was getting a
dead short. After blowing several fuses I started using the spark
method. I went to the rear and found the green wire that was
attached to the clearances lights. After cutting the line prior to
the rear clearance lights I found that the license light was corroded
and was causing a problem. Replaced the license light fixture. (
took 5 days to get the replacement). I haven't stated that my
Caravel has had the interior completely stripped out. Re insulated
and closed up with AL looks great it just does not work.
Now I have the rear clearance lights disconnected from the
front clearance lights. I have the front and rear lights working,
just not on the same wire powering them. Now I have eliminated every
thing in front of the door inside the wall and everything behind the
rear clearance lights including tail lights. Now I believe that the
rebuilder must have made wired it incorrectly or drilled into the
wire. The wire in question shows that the wire is shorted out.
My options are the take all the interior panels off or run a
new wire down through the wall to the pan area and through the pan to
the rear of the camper, up and connect to the rear wiring.
I have been working on this clearance light problem for two
weeks. Any Ideas.
