You dont need a mechanical switch, you need a brake controller. The 
brake controller applies the trailer brakes proprotionally, depending on 
how hard and fast you apply your vehicle's brakes.

Some vehicles come with integrated brake controllers. I dont know if 
yours does. You should visit a reputable hitch supplier to check and 
have one installed if you dont have one.

Something else to consider is the size of your tow vehicle vs the size 
of your trailer. What size  is your trailer? if it is a large one, a 
Jeep is likely too small to tow it safely. It's not just a matter of 
engine power. You need a wide wheel base and heavy tow vehicle to keep a 
large trailer from flipping you over in adverse conditions.
