The filter I was thinking of putting in-line after faucet and before the 
trailer is one like I have for our whole house filter; looks like yarn wound 
around a spool.  Those types don't cost but a few dollars for the filters 
and they do trap rust, sediment, etc. up to certain sizes measured in 
microns which is pretty darn small.

They don't weigh much either so your mileage shouldn't suffer, Daisy. ;) 
Are you familiar with those types of filters?
