This week, I saw/read (do so much of both, I get confused) that Ford is  
being sued for taking strength out of the roofs of their vehicles -- have caused  
some serious cave ins and worst of all deaths during  rollover.  Can't 
remember what year they implemented  this "cost  saving" feature.   Maybe this was 
why your friend's roof gave  way.
