Here is a photo.  

It's basically a U bracket bolted upside down on the trailer.  The rear end of 
the U has square holes for the step brackets to slide into.  The other part has 
a bolt that stick out and a hole in the step allows it to slide on the bolt and 
is secured with a wing nut.
