Re: [VAL] Battery Boxes

Hello Dan,

You're probably going to have to sit down and do some math to calculate
where such a load can be best safely placed...tanks empty and full...for
towing stability. You may very well end up putting a hatch in the floor,
vented to the outside, a bit forward of your axle(s) to keep the center of
gravity low, the weight even side-to-side, a close-to-neutral affect fore
and aft, and quick'n'easy access to the caps and connections.

You will be causing some welding to happen...

An alternative might be to mount them in your truck, and run fat cables to
your onboard batteries. Unless you use high amperage consumers a lot, you
shouldn't have any problem with such a setup.

A guy could even have an inverter in the pickup, and send AC into the rig
instead of DC...let an onboard converter turn it back into DC if you need
it. There would be some loss of efficiency, but that's all calculable in
advance too. Add a big rack of solar panels to a stout roof over the pickup
bed, and you'll be close to self-contained when we all run out of gas.

Your pickup would then not only be a tug, it would be a tender too!
