[VAL] Re:Sticky walls
I just had a thought. (Yikes) The sticky walls might be
disgusting muck from the previous owner. ( Cigar smoke
anyone?) But it is pretty clear that in some cases, it
reoccurs even when "clean", and not subject to too much high
living. I agree that it is some kind of chemical reaction
going on, adhesive bleeding through the vinyl, or more
likely the surface of the vinyl breaking down. Since my '73
has shown no signs of stickiness in 4 years, I get to
wondering why, and perhaps my trailer was NOT cleaned very
often ( that's actually not a perhaps..) and thereby did not
get exposed to what ever degraded the vinyl.
It's not clear if this is an environmental attack, cigar
smoke, bacon grease, dog breath, or a CLEANING attack.
Plastic can be degraded by many chemicals, so maybe using a
really nasty cleaning agent would start this process. Like
TCP or solvents or even a really harsh detergent.
Dunno what is in Armstrongs' floor cleaner, is it designed
for VINYL floors ?
Murpheys is gentle, and if you get the walls really clean,
it should be OK.
Vinyl floor wax would be a good finish for the walls, but
mine don't need it. Why is that ? I
used Simple Green to clean mine.
