[VAL] Goodyear Marathons ect.

A couple of years ago there was a similar discussion of tires and Goodyear 
Marathon problems. I had Marathons on my 61 Tradewind that I was looking to 
replace, no problems but they were 5 years old. I asked a friend that worked at a 
tire store that sold Coopers, Michelins and others. He told me that to be 
truthful they were seeing a lot of blowout problems with tires they sold but they 
were getting a lot of other brand tires they didn't sell with blowouts coming 
in so he thought it was a common problem. He did some research and found out 
that if I waited a little bit Cooper was comming out with a new tire to address 
the problem, which is what I did. So it may be that the most important thing 
may not be the brand but getting the most modern design that addresses the 
problem. such as the "S" Marathon. Phil
