Cheapest is using Lexan, cost more than Plexiglas but more durable.
Tempered glass would definitely be better as far as looks.
I asked the local glass company here (actually both of them) if they could
make one and both said they could if they had the frame. One said they could
come out and just make a template, then cut the glass to fit.
So if I were in your position I'd head over to a glass shop near you and talk
to them. A little work removing the window frame and 40-50 bucks later you got
what appears to be original window.
