RE: [VAL] furnace noise

Brian,

If you are talking about a Suburban furnace, they have one motor. It serves
as the blower and fresh air intake from the outside.

I don't know what you could be hearing that's squealing if the furnace motor
is not running. That is a strange one. The motors are known to get a
little out of whack after 30 years ;-)

You do have to remove the entire furnace guts to get access to the motor
itself. To do that you have to remove the vent cover on the outside, then
remove the two screws behind it that hold the intake and exhaust pipes to
the wall. Then go back in the trailer, and remove the gas line (after
shutting off the tanks and the valve). Remove the front cover via the two
snapping clamps, and then remove the bolt/screw near the bottom holding the
guts in place. Disconnect the wiring and slide it out of the shell.

You will probably want to clean it all out anyway so now is a good time to
go over the whole thing.
