Re: [VAL] copper?!

One of the first things I found out when I pulled my 76 A/S home back in
2000 was that the water lines had been patched in several places and to say
there were leaks would be an understatement. My first thought was to start
repairing the copper lines. I cut out a few sections with fittings and
headed to the plumbing store. No dice, although the tubing looked intact,
the standard fittings, 1/2 and 5/8 would not fit. I went to specialty
pluming stores, AC equipment stores and old hardware stores no luck. The
copper had expanded from freezing.

In the end I replaced all of the copper lines and valves with PEX and the
called for compression fittings. Works, great, fairly inexpensive and easy
to work with. No leaks since then. Good Luck.
