Hi Cindy,

It is good for getting rid of water, but as a lubricant it turns to a 
sticky gunk that attracts dirt and grime.

In defense of my silicone suggestion, silicone lubricant is the choice 
of locksmiths these days.....I hope no one thought I was suggesting 
using silicone sealant on a door squeak....
