Ann : If the cord is too small ( wire gage) the cord will heat up because of the 
resistance of the flow of electrical current.Which in turn may cause things in 
your trailer not to work properly due to low voltage ( hum) .the continues use 
of under size extension cord will destroy some if not most of your electrical 
appliances.The solution is to go to a 10 gage wire ( extension cord.Too the 
power supply where the cord that you now use may not have enough amperage to 
operate your trailer.Have some one with an volt ohm meter to check the power 
supply out for you.This can save you a lot of heart ache in the long run.
