Re: [VAL] Sad to see Vintage Airstreams to Exported to Europe

Joe,

I agree with you, but mostly for selfish reasons. These trailers are
American treasures. I would like to see them stay in America, too. But,
vintage Americana is hot in places like Europe and Japan. If they have
the money to spend, someone is going to sell them what they want.

A few months ago, I put our '64 Safari on ebay. It didn't sell the first
week, so I dropped the price by $500 and added a "Buy It Now" at my original
price. Even though I stated no international sales, a gentleman from
Germany snatched it up at the Buy It Now price. I thought about rejecting
the bid, but I wanted to sell and he wanted to buy. It was a match. I was
a little sad to see it go overseas, because I know I will never see it again
at a rally or somewhere down the road.

Regarding the two trailers you mentioned in the VAC classifieds, I guess you
could always submit a comparable offer in US dollars. All they really want
is the money. I doubt they really care if the trailers go to Europe. It's
just a way to make more cash.
