I haven't painted an Argosy but I've painted several hundred aircraft.
Aluminum needs to be etched with alodine if it's bare aluminum.
A good primer is an epoxy primer.
A good paint is polyurethane.
Manufacture - PRC DeSoto or Deft.

If it's peeling so soon after painting, what did you prep it with?
Such as wiping it down, sanding, etc... ?
Oops, I scrolled down again and notice you said you used Alkyd enamel.
The adhesive properties of enamel to aluminum aren't that great.
