RE: [VAL] Dolly wheels/casters

Joann,

I have a v-nosed motorcycle trailer that has a single 3500# Dexter axle that
I need to move around now and then. I installed a wheeled hitch jack on the
side of the A-frame up front, it has the poly plastic wheel. Underneath the
tires I have 4-wheeled dollies which have steel wheels, they are rated for
about 1,000# or 2,000# each -- for a grand total of either 2,000# or 4,000#
pounds. With the wheeled dollies under each tire and a wheeled hitch jack I
can easily push this heavy trailer all over the floor, in any direction I
choose. I no longer have to back up the tractor, lift up the A-frame and
then tow it where I need to put it out of the way. It's a lot easier to
just push the trailer sideways, swing it around to load it up, etc.

Now, IF you have sloping ground and IF you don't have a hard surface for the
dollies to roll around on I'd never suggest you do as I've done. But, if
you have a non-sloping ground with a solid surface you could probably push
your trailer any which way you desire with just one hand! ;)
