[VAL] Re: torsion bars
We spent a fair amount of time messing with our '79 @ 31' A/S and the
new red arrow hitch. By parking on a level paved surface, and carefully
checking for level (by measuring from pavement to a consistent surface
front and back as well as checking with a 6' level on the floor). It
was decided that 19 1/2" to the trailer's hitch off the pavement was
just right. The ball and receiver on the truck was then adjusted to
match the trailer. If the hitch's torsion bars are properly adjusted,
the heights and levelness should remain consistent before and after
hooking up.
19 1/2" seems to be pretty consistent with full size A/S trailers of
our vintage.
Best,
Chris K.
