The spring bars are mounted to each side of the ball on the hitch head and, 
during a turn, the bar on the inside of the turn will move back along the 
trailer “A” frame and the other bar will move forward.  This movement will 
cause the bars to rise as the chains move toward the horizontal. A chain 
that is too short risks the bars contacting the “A” frame during a sharp 
turn.
