[VACList] Re: VACList Digest V3 #278 - Stainless screws

Probably "stainless" is just too vague a term to make much of any blanket
statements about corrosion in aluminum fastened with "stainless steel."
What SS alloy? Magnetic/nonmagnetic? Passivated or not? Pure aluminum? Aluminum
alloy? Which aluminum alloy? What atmosphere? Dry? Wet? Coastal?
Has anyone experience with any of the electronic corrosion inhibitors? Or are
they "snake oil"?
My 1952 Spartan has different kinds of fasteners, plated steel, stainless,
aluminum, both from the factory and added in repairs and modifications. One area
by the rear door has severe corrosion clear through the skin, while most of the
aluminum skin is shiny under the bad paint job wherever it has chipped off.
