The part that is leaking is the from the tank where the male pipe thead was
screwed into with teflon tape.  When the tape failed it was cleaned off and
replaced with teflon paste.

I think I will switch over to male pipe threads all the way around and
tighten until I cannot tighten any more.  Then use the flex hoses you
mentioned.  This way I don't have to worry about alignment to my original
pipes.  Not as clean but at least it may be done ;-)

Thanks for letting me know about the tappered threads.  I did not know that.
I was hopping I wasn't messing up the aluminum threads.
