I had a similar problem.  Which end is leaking?  If it is the flare end you
have to have new parts on both sides.  You cannot use any teflon or thread
dope.  The seal is made with the flares, not the threads.  Anything in the
way and it will never seal.  If it is the threaded side, you have to use
teflon or dope as the threads typically don't seal.  The male side is
tappered and the friction is supposed to seal, but because of the nature of
the seal, some additional sealant is required.  I ended up using those new
braded stainless steel hoses which are hand tightened.  They have a rubber
seal in the end as well as the flare and are made extremely strong.  They
are available in most home supply stores.  Not only do they seal perfectly,
because they are flexible they install very easily.
