As a former law clerk, I find this to be of some 
interest.  Since "common knowledge" states 
clearly that the public accepts "ebay" as the 
way to move stolen merchandise, then the 
recipients of such do "know" it is stolen or at 
least should accept that possibility.  The 
sheriffs in the seller's hometown and the 
sheriff in the recipient's hometown should be 
notified immediately so that any possible 
protection from a charge of receiving stolen 
merchandise can be established.
