may not meet the conditions of a criminal offense - but believe you run the 
risk of losing the trailer to the rightfull owner without compensation of 
your purchase money.........either way, always best to get a clear title for 
the unit, besides theft, possiblity of an unpaid lien against the 
property.....if anything the seller should have provided a salvage or junk 
title or preferably a replacement title 

hopefully the state that the unit will be licensed in will run a title check 
before issuing plates and this is all non-issues and just thoughts when 
future buyers look at a unit
